Vicus cufflinks are concentric, made of silver 925 or silver 925 with 18K gold bath, inspired by the beads of a bracelet from the collection of the Museo Larco de Lima – Peru
Cufflinks inspired by bracelet beads from the Larco Museum collection. Gold and silver in ancient Peru symbolically complemented each other. Both metals communicated through their brilliance and color their association with the concept of duality. Gold represents the sun, the day and the masculine; silver represents the moon, the night, and the feminine. The clothing and grave goods of the pre-Columbian elites were adorned with plates and flaps of these precious metals. Although these are ornaments with generally small and delicate elements, they are finely worked to represent symbolic motifs in detail. In necklaces, flaps, headbands and bracelets we can identify human and divine characters, heads of snakes, felines, and other animals.
