Murrup iguana in Muchik language, is a divine animal associated with fertility and the cult of the dead. In Mochica art, the anthropomorphic iguana appears in regeneration rituals, sacrificial and burial ceremonies, or accompanying the sexual act carried out by the greater god Aia Apaec.
