Replica of a Chancay ceramic vessel, with an unpolished surface, usually white with geometric decoration in black or brown. The sculptures of men and women in a static position with their arms raised are known as “cuchimilcos”. These oversized figurines were dressed in cloth, and were usually placed in pairs on graves. They reached a very high quality in their textile production. Its gauze and tapestries wrapped the dead in the Chancay tombs. The ceramics created a ritual scenography that accompanied the dead in the afterlife.
