Earrings made of 925 silver plated in 18 k gold, inlaid with chrysocolla, representing the Mochica iguana, a secondary divinity of the great society of the Northern coast of Peru (150-850 ad). Murrup, iguana in Muchik language, is a divine animal associated with fertility and the cult of the dead. In Mochica art, the anthropomorphic iguana appears in regeneration rituals, sacrificial and burial ceremonies, or accompanying the sexual act carried out by the elder god, Aia Apaec.
